In general there are two methods of procedure: -

Option One

• The Candidate is proposed and seconded by Members who have been Full Members for at least three years.
• With the completed application form the proposer and seconder will submit letters detailing their knowledge of the Candidate both socially and (where the application is for playing membership) as a golfer.
• If appropriate, the Candidate will be interviewed by the Membership Committee and (in the case of playing membership) if successful, will play a round of golf with a member of that Committee.
• On recommendation by the Membership Committee, the Candidate’s name will be entered in the Candidates Book where four Members in addition to the proposer and seconder must support it.
• With the required support and after a minimum of 28 days following entry into the Candidates Book the Board will consider the application and if successful, the Candidate will be notified of election.

Option Two

• In the event that the Candidate does not know Members of the Club the Secretary will, on receipt of a completed application form, research any references and golfing background.
• If appropriate the Candidate’s name will be posted on the Notice Board for at least a month.
• The Candidate will be interviewed by the Membership Committee and (in the case of playing membership) if successful will play a round of golf with a member of that Committee.
• On recommendation by the Membership Committee, the Board may direct that the Candidate be given 6 months Temporary Membership on payment of the appropriate portion of subscription.
• Temporary Members may play in medals and stablefords but no other competitions.
• After four months and re-endorsement by the Board, the applicant’s name is entered in the Candidate’s Book where four Members must support it.
• With the required support and after a further two months, following entry into the Candidates Book, the Board will consider the application and if successful, the Candidate will be notified of election.
